How can you tell that (448 + 217 + 34) × 9 is three times as large as (448 + 217 + 34) × 3 without doing complicated calculations?

I can tell that (448+217+34) x9 is 3 times larger than (448+217+34) x3 because the number inside the equations are being multiplied by 9 which is 3 times bigger than 3 ( the number being multiplied in the 2nd one)(3x3)
