She currently has 3.75 dozen
She gains 11.5 dozen

A dozen contains 12 items so

12 x 11.5 = 138

12 x 3.75 = 45

138 + 45 = 183

We have to convert 183 to dozen so therefore

183 / 12 = 11.5

Jane has 11.5 dozen boxes of envelopes
